Design staircase simple method
Stair case
Residential building
Riser = 150mm to 220mm
Tread = 230mm to 300 mm
Width of stair = 900 mm to 1500mm
Live load = 3 kN/metre^2
Public building
Riser = 120 mm to 200
Tread = 250 mm to 330mm
Width of stair case =1500mm to 2500mm
Live load = 5kN/metre^2
Parapet
Height = 600 mm to 1200mm
Thickness = 70 to 120mm
Horizontal load = 0.75kN/metre^2
Design a dog-legged stair case for a building in which the vertical distance between the floors is 3.6m . The stair hall measure 2.5m X 5m
STEP 1:
Assume the length 2.5m and tread & riser
Let
Riser = 150 mm
Tread = 250 mm
STEP 2:
Assume the width of the tread
Width = 2.5m/ 2
=1.25m
=1250mm
STEP 3:
Calculate height of each flight
=3.6m/2
=1.8m
=1800mm
Number of riser required in each flight
=no.of each flight - riser
=1800mm/150mm
= 12nos
So number of tread required in each flight
=number of riser - 1
=12-1
Number of tread =11nos
STEP 4 :
calculate the space occupied total tread
= 11 X 250mm
= 2750mm = 2.75 m
Calculate remaining space
= 5m-2.75m
= 2.25 m
STEP 5 :
assume the landing length
= 2.25m- 1.5m
= 0.75m
Remaining space using for the passage
If not then increase the length of tread
